Seven people displaced after Friday afternoon fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Fire Department responded to a working residence fire in the 3200 block of Capsella Lane on Friday afternoon.

IFD arrived to the scene at 3:42 p.m. IFD said heavy smoke could be seen for miles.

The fire started in the garage and quickly spread to the home and a neighboring home.

Neighbors saw the fire and quickly alerted the homeowners.

No one was injured during the fire. However, a family of seven is without a home this evening.

The family cats were also unaccounted for.

The homeowners were not sure what may have started the garage fire.

IFD Victim’s Assistance and the Red Cross will help the family of seven find shelter. The family did not have insurance and lost everything in the fire.

Damage for the two homes was estimated at $300,000. The fire remained under investigation as of Friday evening. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
