Lafayette police respond to 3 armed robberies in 1 hour

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – From 2:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. Monday, Lafayette police responded to three armed robberies across the city.

The first report came from an apartment on Chaffee Court at Claystone Apartments. Police say a man had walked outside of his apartment when he was robbed at gunpoint by two men wearing t-shirts over their faces.

Then around 3 a.m., police say another man was robbed outside of Cambridge Apartments off of State Road 38. The robbers were armed with a handgun and also wore t-shirts over their faces. The victim was struck in the head but did not require hospitalization.

Minutes later, a call came in saying the Village Pantry on Greenbush Street was robbed. This time, two robbers brandished a machete. Police say the men took the store’s cash register and the clerk’s cell phone.
