INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – There was a call for prayer Monday night in Indianapolis as church members gathered to pray for healing in the city.

The local Baptist Ministers Alliance held a prayer rally at a near north side church, asking God to protect the city, and put an end to, what they call, a murderous spirit that has come over Indianapolis.

“Prayer is powerful and it’s our most potent weapon that we have in our Christian arsenal and we’re going to use that to combat the violence that’s in our city,” said Pastor Carl Mimms the President for Baptist Ministers Alliance of Indianapolis

In addition to a decrease in violence, the ministers prayed for unity with our police officers, and for the families of fallen officers. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
