INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Eskenazi Health is taking its wellness programs outside.
On Tuesday the hospital unveiled an outside plaza called CommonGround.
The space was designed to provide emotional healing. Leaders stressed that before the body can get better, the mind has to first.
The area has about 5,000 flowers, 80 different species of vines that will grow around trellises, and 1.5 million pounds of Indiana Limestone.
The space is open to the public.
“This is for you. This is your place. This is the giveback and the gesture,” said David Rubin, Principal at LAND COLLECTIVE, the landscape architectural firm that designed the plaza.
“Its open all the time whether you are in need of Eskenazi’s services or not. Come here, use it and enjoy it,” Rubin said.
The area was built entirely from private donations.
It also includes a dining center.
