Girl, dog OK after fire damages home on city’s northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Fire Department responded to a working residence fire on Wednesday evening.

IFD was dispatched to the 6800 block of Cricklewood Road at 4:46 p.m. When they arrived heavy smoke was coming from the two story residence.

A 13-year-old girl and the family dog were inside the home, but were able to escape the fast moving fire. The girl told IFD that a light bulb she was replacing in an entertainment center caught fire.

The girl took the dog out of the home and called 911. The two were not injured.

The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damages.
