MARION, Ind. (AP) — The leader of the state agency that regulates alcohol sales in Indiana is leaving that position for an administrative job at an Ivy Tech Community College campus.

Ivy Tech announced Thursday that Alex Huskey will become the Marion campus president beginning Aug. 25.

Huskey has been chairman of the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission since his appointment in 2011 by then-Gov. Mitch Daniels. Huskey had previously been the Indiana Excise Police superintendent for seven years.

Ivy Tech says that as campus president Huskey will focus on community outreach and manage day-to-day operations at the site about 50 miles southwest of Fort Wayne. He will report to Ivy Tech’s regional chancellor.

Huskey lives in Marion and is a former assistant police chief in the city.
