BATESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – Police are investigating a theft after a woman came into the Batesville Dollar General store and received the daily deposit of about $2,000.

Police said someone called the store and spoke to an employee earlier that day and said he was a representative of the Dollar General corporate office. The caller said he would send a woman to the business to pick up the daily deposit.

The woman went to the store, located at 11 Sarasota Drive off of State Road 229, on July 24 and received the daily deposit of about $2,000 from the same employee who was given instructions over the phone earlier that day.

Police said the suspect had long black hair that came past her shoulders. She was wearing a gray sweatshirt, pink hat and sunglasses.

BPD is working with surrounding law enforcement agencies to try to identify the suspect depicted in the store surveillance video. Other similar incidents have been reported in the Cincinnati Tristate area, according to the chief.

Anyone who can help identify the female suspect is encouraged to contact BPD at (812) 934-3131.
