State Fair app alerts visitors to passing showers

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Some pop-up showers moved through Indianapolis Friday afternoon and the Indiana State Fair let people know to take shelter.

The app, which can be downloaded for free on smart phones, provides information about fair events, hours, and parking to name a few, but it also sends people push notifications.

Friday afternoon, the following message was sent to those with the app:

If you’re at the fair right now, please seek shelter inside a permanent building while this brief shower passes by. Thanks!
