INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Fire Department officials are investigating two arson cases from Saturday morning.
The first fire happened at Pickwick Place Apartments shortly after 8 a.m. Firefighters said simultaneous fires were set in two different locations in the apartment complex.
Officials said there were no injuries reported, but two units were damaged in the fire. Firefighters said the fire was intentionally set with combustibles.
The second fire happened around 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Garfield Apartments, located at 2525 Shelby Street, on the city’s south side.
Firefighters said eight residents evacuated the building after a woman noticed the fire and alerted the other residents. One woman suffered a minor injury and was taken to Eskenazi Health. A Labrador, chihuahua, and cat were also taken out of the building safely.
Officials said that fire was also set with combustibles.
IFD is asking anyone with information about either of these fires to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS or text information to INDYCS at 274627. Tips can be given anonymously and rewards of up to $1,000 can be claimed for information leading to an arrest for these arsons.
