INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police made an arrest after they found a newborn baby boy in a trash can inside of United Technology Carrier Corporation, on the corner of W. Morris Street and Girls School Road, Friday night around 8:15 p.m.

Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrested 22-year-old Briana Holland of Indianapolis. Holland is preliminarily charged with neglect of a dependent.

Police arrested her on Saturday morning at 5 a.m.

According to preliminary investigations police say Holland gave birth to the infant at the location and abandoned him in the bathroom.

The boy is in good condition at Riley Hospital for Children and in the custody of the Department of Child Services.

Police remind residents that they can use the Indiana Safe Haven Law, giving a person the option to give up an unwanted infant anonymously. Learn more about the law by clicking here.
