Two airlifted after Miami Co. crash

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (WISH)  – Police said two people were severely injured in a crash on US 31 Sunday afternoon.

According to Indiana State Police, around 2:30 p.m., a car driven by Floyd Smith, 17, of Kokomo, was heading southbound on US 31, near CR 300 S., when it drove across the median and into the northbound lanes of US 31.

Smith’s car then hit a northbound car driven by Megan Burns, 33, of Warsaw.

Police said the passenger in Smith’s car was airlifted from the scene to a Fort Wayne hospital with life-threatening injuries. The passenger has been identified as Terra Hildebrand, 22, of Logansport.

Smith was also flown from the crash scene to a Fort Wayne hospital. Police said Burns suffered lacerations from the crash.
