BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A court has decided a deputy, who lost his job after shooting at another officer with training ammunition, is entitled to unemployment.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s partners, The Columbus Republic, the Indiana Court of Appeals ruled 38-year veteran, Robbie Amos, was not fired for cause.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett said jobless benefits were the only issue at stake in the appeals court.

“This has nothing to do with (Amos’) employment, and he’s not coming back,” Gorbett said.
