MONTICELLO, Ind. (WISH) – 24-Hour News 8 is learning how one victim will be remembered after a deadly shooting at an Indiana office building.

A witness was also able to give a better idea of what happened in the moments before those three people lost their lives.

White County deputies arrived at Jordan Manufacturing to find a man lying on the ground with a gun next to him.

Inside a nearby car, investigators found a second man and a woman with gunshot wounds. A witness told our sister station in West Lafayette, WLFI-TV, the shooter walked into the office with present wrapped with a bow and asked for his ex-wife.

That witness said coworkers thought he was delivering flowers. But now, they believe that’s where he hid the weapon. The witness said the man waited for the woman and her boyfriend to drive up before shooting them and then himself.

24-Hour News 8 anchor Daniel Miller talked to the family and friends of one of those victims. They described him as a loving, caring father who recently moved from Logansport to Monticello.

“I’m shocked. I don’t know what to think. I don’t know what to say,” said Faustino Hernandez.

That’s all Hernandez could say after hearing the news his friend was shot and killed Tuesday morning outside the manufacturing plant.

Police and the White county sheriffs department rushed to the business after getting a 911 call.

“It’s a tragedy. It’s a tragedy to those individuals that are involved. It’s a tragedy to their families. It’s a tragedy to the community in general,” said White County Sheriff Patrick Shafer.

Sheriff Shafer hasn’t released the victims names, but the woman told 24-Hour News 8  the man found in the car was her uncle.

“We are really sad about it. It’s sad to know he barely knew the lady and this happened,” said Miriam Roque.

Roque said her uncle worked at the furniture company for several years and was a great photographer.

“He used to take pictures that was his hobby. He used to love that,” she said.

Roque said her uncle leaves behind a daughter who will miss him.

“He was a good friend for many years. Good father,” Hernandez said.

Sheriff Shafer said he will release more information, including the names of the victims, when an autopsy is complete. He also said they are not looking for any other person of interest at this time. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
