Three dead after shooting at Monticello business

WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI/WISH) — Two men were found dead at a White County business and a woman died at a hospital after a report of shots fired Tuesday morning.

Authorities were called to Jordan Manufacturing, located at 1200 S. Sixth St. in Monticello around 11:30 a.m. White County Sheriff Pat Shafer confirmed the deaths, which were from apparent gunshot wounds.

When police arrived they found a Hispanic male subject on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. A hand gun was lying near the man.

The female was taken to IU Health White Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The two men were pronounced dead at the scene

WLFI-TV spoke to a witness who said she saw the whole thing happen. She said the shooter walked into the office with a box wrapped like a present looking for his ex-wife who was out at lunch. The witness said shortly after she went outside to make a phone call and that’s when she saw the shooter hiding behind a tree.

The witness said his ex-wife and her boyfriend pulled into a parking spot a few seconds later and she started walking over to them to tell her that her ex-husband was there. The witness said the shooter jumped out from behind the tree with a gun, said hello to the couple, then shot the man, his ex-wife, then himself.

Shafer said the names of the three people will be released after he talks with the coroner.

Detectives were investigating with help from the Monticello and Monon Police departments, and the Indiana State Police.
