Burglar injured in scuffle with Moose Lodge employee

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Police say a man was hurt after he broke into the Moose Lodge early Wednesday morning.

Around 4:15 a.m. police were called to the Moose Lodge at 950 Field Drive on the north side of Noblesville.

The phone line was still open as police heard two people yelling at each other. An employee of the lodge said he entered the building and found a burglar in the cooler.

Police say the two started fighting and the lodge worker hit the burglar over the head with a gun. The burglar suffered a deep cut to the head and responding officers started first aid to what they described was severe bleeding.

An ambulance arrived and took the burglar, identified as 21-year-old John P. Dell, to Riverview Health Hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries. He was later released from the hospital.

Dell was taken to the Hamilton County Jail and preliminarily charged with burglary.

Police say the Lodge employee was OK and treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 317-773-1300 or email tips@noblesville.in.us.
