FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) – The Fishers Fire Department has made the move to its temporary home.

The department will work out of a rental home for about six months while the fire station at 116th and Brooks School Road is renovated.

The location is about a half mile from the fire house.

Last spring, the town council said moving firefighters into a home during the construction project would save about $36,000. The council voted to move three firefighters and a fire engine into a private home on 116th street while the station is being renovated.

Construction on the fire station will start on Aug. 11. The building will expand 1700 square feet and allow for living space for additional personal and storage of equipment. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
