Franklin police investigate early morning armed robbery

FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH) — Police in Franklin are investigating an armed robbery that happened early Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the Admiral Petroleum, located at 237 West Jefferson Street, shortly before 2 a.m.

When police got on scene they spoke with the clerk who said he was robbed by a white male suspect. The clerk said the suspect entered the business wearing blue jeans, a blue t-shirt and blue baseball style cap. The suspect is described as heavy set, with a full beard, glasses and in his early to mid-20s.

Police say the suspect told the clerk he had a gun, but no weapons were displayed. The suspect demanded money and cigarettes before leaving the business on foot. He left with an unknown amount of cash and cigarettes.
