HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – The golf world is invading Louisville on Thursday for the PGA Championship. If you’re an avid golfer in Central Indiana you may be familiar with the Witt Family.

Rick and Dan Witt are two brothers making a difference on the local links. Dan Witt is the Head Golf Pro at Sagamore Golf Club in Noblesville, and just 10 miles down the road, Rick Witt is the Head Pro at the Bridgewater Club in Carmel.

Rick and Dan both played golf at Ball State, both are head pros at two prestigious golf clubs and both enjoy the job for one reason: the people.

“I think it’s all the aspects of interaction with the people that I enjoy,” said Dan Witt.

Rick Witt, “I enjoy just being around all the members, teaching them golf and putting on golf tournaments and just coming to work everyday.”

Not only are the brothers having an impact on the members at their clubs, but they impact the people they work with as well.

“His personality he keeps it fun. It’s not too stressful around here. We tend to have a good time at work usually everybody like’s being here,” said Cody McKnew, the Assistant Golf Professional at The Bridgewater Club.

The Witt brothers say they work anywhere from 60 to 70 hours a week.

Dan Witt, “Luckily for both of us, we have awesome families and awesome wives that allow us to do what we do.”

Rick and Dan have an older brother who is also a golf professional, who also played at Ball State.

The three brothers are all head golf professionals.  The only difference is that Dave works in Naples, Florida.

Rick says, “He’s not coming back, he’s been in Naples for too many years. He’ll come back to a watch a Colts game and that’s about it.”
