INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The head of Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana is stepping down after four decades leading the public benefit organization.

CEO Jim McClelland announced Thursday that he was stepping down in June. The Indianapolis Business Journal reports that when McClelland took over in 1974 Goodwill had 558 workers, eight retail stores and less than $3 million in annual revenue.

The organization has expanded immensely since then, with more 3,100 workers, 55 stores and annual revenue of more than $130 million. Goodwill of Central Indiana has also opened 10 charter schools. Goodwill provides jobs for people whose options are limited by disabilities, criminal histories, low education or other significant barriers.

Board Chairman Bud Melton will lead a national search for a new CEO.
