CICERO, Ind. (WISH) – Police sent out a warning Friday about a python that may be on the loose in the Cicero area.

The snake’s owner told officials in Cicero it has been missing for 10 to 12 days.

The owner told police that there is a chance the snake might still be inside a home in the 200 block of South Byron Street.

Authorities say the snake is a minimal threat to humans.

The reticulating python is five to six feet long and two inches in diameter.

Police ask anyone encountering the snake not to approach it, but instead contact police at 317-773-1282.
