INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A portion of Massachusetts Avenue was closed after an overnight oil spill.

Just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, police say a semi was driving on Massachusetts Avenue when it hit some wood blocks in the road, causing the semi’s oil pan to rupture. About 15 gallons of oil spilled onto the road.

Hazmat was called to assist Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Marion County Health Department with the cleanup.

Massachusetts closed in both directions from South of 38th Street to Arlington Avenue for a few hours to clean up the mess.
