No indication of financial misdoings by former Boone County sheriff

Boone County Sheriff Ken Campbell

BOONE COUNTY (WISH) – There appears to be no link between accusations against the former Boone County sheriff and the department’s finances.

In June, former Sheriff Ken Campbell was investigated for his possible involvement with a prostitute. Campbell retired following the allegations.

After he retired an audit was ordered. Early reports from the department say it revealed no criminal activity.

“These steps are necessary to continue our overall mission statement, which include the 5 value points; these will continue to be our foundation: Integrity, Leadership, Loyalty, Professionalism and Commitment” said acting Sheriff, Mike Nielsen.

The audit and investigation will not be released for four to five weeks. For now, Nielsen says it is time to focus on the future.

“It’s time to move forward, but before we can do that, we must make sure there are no residual effects. We need to focus on the future, and not the past,” said Nielsen.
