FRUITDALE, Ind. (WISH) – The family of a deadly hit and run victim are offering a reward for information that may help police make an arrest after 36-year-old Chad Demuth died when he was hit by a car.
According to 24-Hour News 8’s partners at the Brown County Democrat the stepfather of Demuth, Bob Rice believes someone will come forward with a reward of $10,000.
Demuth was hit sometime between 12:20 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. on Saturday June 1. Police say he was hit and killed by a vehicle on State Road 135 North near Hurdle Road. The driver did not stop.
Evidence from the scene of the crash and the clothing Demuth was wearing helped police narrow down the vehicle to a black truck made between 1988 and 1997. The model could be a Chevrolet or GMC C1500 or W/T model truck. They also say the bumper may have been painted black.
A passer-by discovered Demuth’s body about 20 feet from the highway in a yard.
Anyone with information should call the Brown County Sheriff’s Office at (812) 988-6655 or leave a message on the TIP line at (812) 988-6620.
The family set up a Facebook page called, “Who Killed Chad DeMuth?“
