‘Full recovery expected’ for Pacers’ Paul George

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Some questions remained unanswered Tuesday as Frank Vogel and Larry Bird addressed the media for the first time since Indiana Pacers star Paul George suffered a gruesome injury.

As of Tuesday, the Pacers didn’t know if George would be out the entire season and what their starting lineup would look like.

“A full recovery is expected, and we’re wishing Paul the best,” Vogel said.

Bird said there was no new plan for the coming season in the absence of George. He said the plan was to continue to compete hard.

“I could sit up here and sugar coat it … You just can’t replace Paul George,” Bird said.

Bird did admit having dinner Monday night with Shawn Marion, who most recently played for the Dallas Mavericks. Bird said the team would be able to sign Marion, but it’s unclear if that will happen.

Despite not knowing what the starting lineup will look like, Vogel said he felt confident the Pacers had a number of solid options.

George is back in Indiana recovering and Vogel and Bird said he’s in good spirits.

Earlier this month, George broke his leg during a scrimmage for the U.S. national team.
