RUSHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Police converged in Rushville Tuesday for what law enforcement says could be the largest anabolic steroid bust Indiana has ever seen.

Rushville Police Department was working with the Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Postal Inspector Service and the Rush County Sheriff’s Office on the bust.

As of Tuesday afternoon, police arrested David E. Starkey, 39, and his wife Holly Starkey, 34. Both were charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, corrupt business influence, possible hypodermic syringe and maintaining a common nuisance. Officials said as the investigation continued, more arrests would be possible.

Authorities uncovered a lab of sorts that was creating the substance. Raw steroids were seized from the home east of Rushville.

“It is dangerous,” Rushville Police Chief Craig Tucker said of the lab. “There is always a potential for danger, but it’s not as dangerous as a meth lab.”

David Starkey had no criminal history in Rush County, authorities said.

Many details were unavailable Tuesday, as it was still early on in the investigation. Neighbors said it is a quiet area.
