INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The grand opening of a newly renovated court in Olin Park was held on Friday.
Neighbors came out to see and even try out the new hoops in the west side neighborhood.
Funds for the court came from Indianapolis Power & Light Company, Pacers Sports & Entertainment and the City Parks Foundation. The organizations hope the court provides a safe neighborhood space.
“When kids have something that they can do that involves collaboration with other people, having to get along as a team and being able to do something in their neighborhood, and parks are such an important part of creating that sense of community everywhere around Indianapolis,” Greg Fennig VP of Public Affairs at IPL said.
This is the third court that has been refurbished. The organizations hope to renovate 20 basketball courts total.
