FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Allen County Coroner has identified the victims from two separate death investigations as Timothy Hartman, 54, of Ashley, Indiana and Neal Reading, 58, of Pleasant Lake, Indiana.
The cause and manner of their deaths have not been established. A coroner’s ruling will also not be made until the investigation is completed.
The two men were pronounced dead following two separate incidents on Friday evening, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
In a release to the media, police said a car arrived at about 5:51 p.m. outside St. Joseph Hospital’s Emergency Department. The driver asked the hospital staff to help the passenger, Timothy Hartman, inside the car. The staff found Hartman to be in critical condition and moved him inside the hospital for treatment. The driver fled the hospital when staff took Hartman inside. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, a physician pronounced him dead.
Police are also investigating the death of another man that happened about 6:13 p.m. Friday. Medics and officers were called to an apartment in the 1200 block of Michigan Avenue where Neal Reading was found unconscious. Medics transported Reading to a local hospital in critical condition, but he was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Investigators interviewed witnesses that were inside the apartment on Michigan Avenue. The initial investigation showed the victims were acquaintances of one another, according to officials.
Detectives said there were no visible signs of trauma on the two men. They are not sure if the two deaths are related or if they are suspicious.
The Fort Wayne Police Department, Coroner’s Office and Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office are investigating the incidents.
