INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Attorneys for Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay have asked for a delay in his trial.

The Indianapolis Colts owner was arrested in March on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance. Irsay and his attorney waived his initial court appearance in June, acknowledging in court records that Irsay understood his rights, would not break any laws and would not leave the state without the court’s permission.

His trial is set for next week on the 28th. There was no word yet if the delay has been granted. In July plea negotiations were still ongoing. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
