JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Johnson County say people should be aware of fake calls coming from other countries.

Detectives say a local man has received numerous calls asking for his ex-wife, and later, asking for his current wife.

The man told police the caller said they were from an arbitration department, calling about a recent car accident.  The caller claimed one of the women owed money for a car accident in which they were involved.

When the man reported the calls to police, he brought them the phone number from his caller ID.

Detectives say a search of that phone number showed it was an internet based number, possibly from Nigeria.

Police say you should protect your personal information, especially when taking calls from numbers you don’t recognize.
