BROWNSBURG (WISH) – After the rain, Lucas Oil Raceway was fired up for NHRA practice.

It was day two Thursday of the annual test and tune.  It was a chance for everyone to see what they’ve got ahead of the biggest event on the drag racing calendar, the U.S. Nationals.

Team Force has been solid all season.  John, Courtney and Brittany are all trying to keep the momentum going for the big event.

“There’s definitely a lot of pressure going into next weekend,” Courtney Force said.  “It’s the biggest race of our season and everybody wants to get a win.  Your name goes down in history if you could win at the U.S. Nationals here in Indy.  On top of that, everyone is now trying to lock into the Countdown to the Championship.”

Courtney’s boyfriend, Graham Rahal spent the last few days with her in Brownsburg before he heads to California Friday for Sunday’s IndyCar Series race in Sonoma.

It’s rare the racing duo is able to spend any time together during their racing seasons.

24-Hour News 8 asked Rahal if he’ll ever get into a dragster.

“I think I’d drive it, but I think a Top Fuel car is smarter, because the engine’s behind you, so if it explodes you’re not in the flames,” Rahal said.  “Frankly, we’ll see.  John’s asked me many, many times to jump in it and drive one, so I’m sure at some point if I stick around long enough I’ll be behind the steering wheel of one of these things.”

The U.S. Nationals is set for Labor Day weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway.
