GREENCASTLE, Ind. (WISH) — Two academic buildings on DePauw University’s campus were flooded Saturday evening just days before the start of classes.

Executive Director of Media Relations Ken Owen says Asbury Hall and Harrison Hall were temporarily evacuated because of standing water in the basement. Owen says there were concerns that the water could become electrified with storms moving through.

The university plans to re-open the academic buildings some time on Sunday. The Green Center for the Performing Arts on campus was also flooded.

Saturday was move-in day for new students. Classes begin on Wednesday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
