INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Detectives in Indianapolis say they have arrested a man in connection to a molestation that occurred at a St. Vincent facility.
On Friday, officers with IMPD were called to the St. Vincent Emergency Department to investigate the report of the molestation of a 4-year-old victim. Police say after the victim’s parents heard of the allegations, they alerted authorities and brought the child to the emergency department.
Investigators quickly arrived and began seeking persons of interest. IMPD Child Abuse detectives identified a person of interest and detained him for questioning.
Police say Ali Al-Awadi is employed at a day care facility on the grounds of St. Vincent and was identified as the suspect. He was arrested on Friday and preliminarily charged with child molestation.
The investigation is on-going but detectives believe the incident is isolated to Al-Awadi.
St. Vincent sent the following statement to 24-Hour News 8 on Saturday:
We are committed to the health and safety of all children and are fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities to investigate the alleged incident at our independently contracted daycare facility, Children’s Choice Learning Center. The suspect employed by Children’s Choice Learning Center has been immediately suspended. Our hearts are with those who have been affected by this difficult situation.
