Thousands take part in Colts 5K in downtown Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — More than 2,500 Colts fans kicked off game day with a race in downtown Indianapolis Saturday morning.

The second annual Back to Football Colts 5K wound around Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Monument Circle, and finished on the 50-yard line inside Lucas Oil Stadium.

The opportunity to run through the tunnel and onto the field was a big draw.

“It’s pretty cool. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 10 years and I bring my kids every other game,” Colts 5K winner Jake Quagliaroli said. “To run through and cross the finish line like the Colts do, and the memories we have coming to the games, to be able to do it, it’s an experience.”

Other NFL teams across the country hold their own 5Ks to help kick off the season at home. They say it’s also a chance to highlight the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle.
