NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — For the second time in about 24 hours, crews in Noblesville responded to a water rescue on the White River.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday, units were dispatched to Potters Bridge on Allisonville Road. When emergency personnel arrived they found a woman clinging to a tree in the river.

The woman told authorities the current pushed back her kayak into a down tree in the river. Her kayak turned to the side and went underwater.

Fire officials say that’s when she became separated from her kayak. She was not wearing a life jacket.

Rescue crews attempted to throw the woman a number of flotation devices but she was too far away, officials say. A Noblesville Fire Department lieutenant wearing a personal flotation device then got into the water and floated to her.

The two were able to get back to the kayak and make it to shore. The woman from Sheridan, Indiana was not hurt.

Crews were called to Potters Bridge Saturday afternoon after a mother and her two children were rescued by a bystander after they became swept into the White River.
