Home a total loss after fire on city’s northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Fire Department responded to a fire on Sunday morning in the 3300 block of MacArthur Lane.

The occupant of the home was taking a shower when his smoke detector started going off. When he got out of the shower to check the detector a second smoke alarm started sounding.

As the man was exiting the home he noticed fire coming from the kitchen and backroom.

IFD and Speedway Fire Department arrived on the scene at 10:26 a.m. Firefighters were able to control the flames in 13 minutes.

No one was injured in the fire. The family and two dogs will be staying with family. The home is a total loss and damage was estimated at $70,000.

IFD will investigate the cause.
