INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis man found guilty of murder in a shooting that left a man dead in August 2012 has been sentenced.
A jury found Nicholis Hood guilty of murder in the Aug. 3, 2012 shooting death of Andre Johnson. Johnson was found shot multiple times inside of his vehicle in the 11400 block of Silver Drift Way. Police say his child was also inside the vehicle when Hood fired at least five shots, striking Johnson an unknown number of times.
Johnson was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital where he died. His child was not hurt.
In addition to finding Hood guilty of murder, he was also found guilty of use of a firearm, which was used as a sentence enhancement.
Hood was sentenced to 53 years in prison, with 749 days of jail credit, which is just over two years.
