BARGERSVILLE Ind. (WISH) – Police are investigating an unusual theft in Johnson County.

Police in Bargersville told 24-Hour News 8’s partners at the Daily Journal that the past month thieves have stolen at least five fire hydrant caps.

Those caps protect the threads where firefighters connect the fire hoses.

The two most recent missing caps were from hydrants along Whiteland Road, between Morgantown and Saddle Club roads.

Replacement parts are on the way, but it will cost around $500. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
