Police: Woman stole from store worker during evacuation

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police in Indianapolis are looking for a woman who they say stole from a store’s employee as the business was being evacuated during a tornado warning.

Detectives with IMPD say on June 24 a woman entered Carson Pirie Scott, located at 1 West Washington Street. Police say during the temporary evacuation she removed a clear bag with money and personal items in it from under the cash register when the victim was working.

Surveillance cameras captured the woman removing the bag and hiding it under her sweater as she left the store and into the mall.

Police say the suspect is a white female, with short dark hair, glasses, wearing a dark jacket, striped shirt, and blue jean shorts.
