12 residents displaced after apartment fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Several people were displaced after an apartment fire on Wednesday afternoon.

Three separate fires started in an apartment complex in the 7700 block of Greighton Court just after 1:30 p.m. That is the Bradford Lake Apartments. Indianapolis Fire Department said 12 people have been displaced.

Smoke could be seen from the corner of the attic. When firefighters entered the complex they found two apartments were on fire on the west side of the building. They also found a third apartment on fire on the first floor at the other end of the building.

Firefighters had the fires out in about 25 minutes. One firefighter was slightly injured due to heat. They were treated at the scene.

IFD said that no audible smoke detectors were heard. All of the apartments were evacuated and all got out safely.

Victim’s Assistance is working with The Red Cross to help all of the tenants with a place to stay.

Damage was estimated at $50,000. IFD was investigating the cause.
