BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — Ongoing renovations at Assembly Hall will force commencement for Indiana University to move this spring.

Graduates earning associate’s and bachelor’s degrees on May 9 will receive their diplomas at Memorial Stadium. The ceremony for graduate students on May 8 will be at Mellencamp Pavilion.

Winter commencement will not be affected by the renovations.

It’s the first time commencement ceremonies have been moved in about a dozen years.

Assembly Hall is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation after a gift from Cindy Simon Skjodt. After the project is finishing, the name of the facility will become Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
