FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH) — There will be a tribute Friday for two Franklin Community High School students who died trying to save a friend.

Jason Moran and Michael Chadbourne died earlier this summer after jumping into the Big Blue River in Edinburgh. Friday night, the school will dedicate a bench in their memory near the football field.

Friday is Franklin’s first home game of the season. The team’s coach says both Moran and Chadbourne were standouts and players and friends.

“Both very good athletes, fast kids, played hard, loved the game of football and I think the biggest — all that being said — I think the biggest thing we’re missing is two really good friends of many, many of our players,” Coach Adam Reece said.

Last week, in their first game they held a moment of silence for both boys. The team went on to win 61 to 7. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
