Man critical following east side robbery, shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are investigating a possible connection between a man found critically wounded at an east side gas station and a residential robbery about a mile away.

Police first got a report of shots fired in the 10000 block of Dedham Drive around 2:53 a.m. One neighbor told 24-Hour News 8 they heard a couple of pops. That scene is near East 25th Street and North Mitthoeffer Road.

A short time later, police got a report of a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at a Mobil Circle K gas station at East 25th and Post Road.

Police say a friend of the victim received a call to meet the victim at the gas station. When the friend arrived he found the victim laying in the ground in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg and hip.

Medics transported the victim to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

Police believe the victim may have been shot at the Dedham Drive scene, but are not sure how he got to the gas station.

Investigators say the resident called 911 reporting that he was being robbed.

The homeowner told police he struggled with armed men trying to get inside his home, got the gun, and shot one of them.

In addition to the homeowner, a woman and young child were in the home at the time. According to police, they were not hurt. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
