Police: Body found behind home is a 15-year-old girl

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police confirm the body of a badly burned female found behind a home on the city’s west side is that of a 15-year-old girl.

The body was discovered Sunday afternoon, when police say a homeowner was walking his dog in the 1100 block of Elder Avenue.

Detectives said they believe the teen was killed in a different location and then dumped in the yard.

An official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Marion County Coroner’s Office following an autopsy on Tuesday.

The victim’s identification will also be released by the coroner.

” I feel sorry for the little girl’s family, and whoever is looking for her,” said Homeowner Brad Parks. “I hope they find out what happened, and that her family gets justice.”

Investigators believe the suspects thought the home was vacant when the body was dumped in the backyard.
