First responders recognized on Labor Day

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – In honor of Labor Day, one restaurant chain is making sure first responders are recognized for the risks they take every day.

The firefighters at Fire Station 42 in Warren Township didn’t have to cook on Labor Day.

Olive Garden delivered them a classic meal, free of charge.

On the menu: salad, lasagna, spaghetti, breadsticks and tiramisu for dessert.

Reggie Johnson is a firefighter at Station 42, “I don’t know if everybody knows this, but we go out every day and buy our own food for each shift.  For them to come surprise us with this, it’s very nice.”

Olive Garden served meals at the Indianapolis fire station as well as at 800 others throughout the country. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
