INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Brad Parks was startled as he walked his dog from his house to his backyard on Sunday afternoon.

In plain sight, Parks spotted a body of a teenage girl, badly burned with a bag over her face.

“I feel sorry for the little girl’s family, and whoever is looking for her,” said Parks.

That disturbing discovery was made in the 1100 block of Elder Avenue.  Parks immediately called police.

Detectives have been clear that Parks was not involved in the crime.

Investigators believe the suspects chose Parks’ home because they thought his house was vacant. The house sits on a dead end street, where five homes are vacant.

Police said they believe the teen was killed in a different location and then dumped in the yard.

An official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Marion County Coroner’s Office following an autopsy on Tuesday.

The victim’s identification will also be released by the coroner.
