INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A driver called 911 Monday night when they said they saw two cars going about 100 mph and at least one of the cars had someone firing a gun at the other vehicle, police officials said.
The incident came to a head on Interstate 465 on the north side of Indianapolis, near the Keystone Avenue exit. The miles-long battle began on the west side, though.
Police officials said the people involved told them they went to buy a car from someone, and the person selling the car pulled a gun and demanded money. They took $1,800 before fleeing in a car. The victims followed. Gunshots began when the original car noticed the victims following behind.
No one was injured in the incident, and no one in the cars involved called 911. It was only a witness who called 911 that got police involved.
Police found a bullet hole in the side of a car. The case is still under investigation.
As of 9:45 p.m., one lane was still closed on I-465 as police investigated.
