Coroner: Death of inmate was of natural causes

WHITELAND, Ind. (WISH) – Police said an inmate died after collapsing in a jail in Johnson County Sunday evening.

According to police, Thomas Wyss, 59, was in a holding cell with another inmate when he collapsed. The other inmate hit the panic button for help and medics quickly arrived.

Wyss was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The Johnson County Coroner determined that Wyss died of multiple organ failure.
