Wigwam gymnasium no longer owned by ACS

ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) – A historic gymnasium is no longer owned by Anderson Community Schools.

The plan to transfer the Wigwam gymnasium from ACS to the Anderson Redevelopment Commission then to a group of private developers was finalized on Tuesday.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s news partners at the Herald Bulletin the Wigwam will now be owned by Wigwam Holdings LLC, which is comprised of Black & White Investors and Pinebrook Properties.

The company plans to convert part of the complex to multi-family housing, and will secure partners to develop uses for other parts of the facility. It has also agreed to maintain the gymnasium until at least 2030.

Anderson Community schools pledged $630,000 to redevelop the project and in return secured rights to use the facility rent-free 12 days per year.

Renovations are expected to being early next year.
