INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The ongoing search for a missing 7-week-old baby turns up nothing for the seventh day in a row.

It’s been one week since Delano Wilson disappeared. But, so far police have found no signs of the infant. There hasn’t been a development in this case the past couple of days. But, no one’s giving up.

Neighbors can’t believe questions still remain an entire week after Willie Wilson said someone beat him and stole his baby.

“Well, things happen every day. Just like that other girl who got killed and burned, you know. It’s just a sad country anymore,” said neighbor Ethel Nipper.

Police, neighbors and family canvassed the southwest side area, praying for a good outcome.

“It’s hard to say where it’s at or what’s happening.  But, hopefully it’s alive and they’ll get their kid back,” said neighbor Randy Hensley.

Police canceled the Amber Alert Friday and the formal search was called off Saturday. Delano’s parents said they wouldn’t stop searching.

For days, nothing happened. Then Monday night police served a search warrant to comb through their home looking for answers.

“I’ve never seen them tape off a whole block before just to search a house. But, you know, given the circumstances I understand,” said neighbor Christiana Richey.

One day later, SCUBA teams searched Little Eagle Creek. Wednesday, once again, there have been no answers and Delano’s parents are no longer welcoming conversation.

Trees cast shadows on their quiet, southwest side street Wednesday, with no sign of struggle or strife. But it’s a calm that can’t hide the worry surrounding Delano’s disappearance as the community keeps an acute awareness of possible developments.

“When you even talk to the older people they’ll say, ‘Randy, you hear anything?’ And I said it’s still the same. They still haven’t found it. But, I hope they do,” said Hensley.

Police will still conduct spot searches following substantial leads.
