Prosecutor: Preliminary investigation shows remains are Brianna Dibattiste

JAY COUNTY (WISH) – Investigators who discovered a body in rural Jay County on September 1 say the remains may belong to a woman who has been missing since June.

The body was found by members of the Jay County Conservation Club in a wooded section off of County Road 650 South. That is at the Jay County Conservation Club.

Police say the body was badly decomposed. Investigators believe the body is that of Brianna Dibattiste from Dunkirk. She has been missing since June 16.

A cause of death was not immediately clear. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday. Jay County Prosecuting Attorney Wes Schemenaur said that results could take several weeks

“Investigators have preliminarily identified the body as Ms. Dibattiste. A DNA test will be performed in order to confirm the identity,” Schemenaur stated in a release.
